Role Overview
The Metals and Minerals Inspector role is a full-time position based in Hamburg, Germany with a hybrid work setup allowing some tasks to be performed remotely. The inspector is responsible for conducting on-site inspections at ports, warehouses, and production sites to verify the quality, quantity, and compliance of metals and minerals with contract and industry norms. Key duties include sampling, material testing, generating detailed inspection and risk assessment reports, and thorough documentation aligned with internal and client standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections on metals and minerals at various locations including ports and warehouses.
- Collect and test material samples to assess compliance with specifications.
- Prepare comprehensive reports detailing inspection findings and risk assessments.
- Collaborate closely with operations, logistics, and clients to align inspection schedules and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations and contribute to process improvements.
- Support risk management and quality control initiatives through insights gained from inspections.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Technical expertise in metals and minerals, knowledgeable in sampling and testing techniques.
- Experience in quality control, inspection, or commodities logistics, preferably in metals or related sectors.
- Strong analytical capabilities with clear and accurate reporting skills.
- Effective communication skills to work seamlessly with diverse teams and clients.
- High attention to detail and integrity in verifying product specifications and compliance.
- Capability to operate in varied field environments including vessels and industrial sites while adhering to safety rules.
- Flexible approach to work hours including availability for shifts during evenings and weekends.
- Proficient using standard office software and digital reporting tools.
- Fluent in English and German languages.
- Preferably holds vocational training or a degree in engineering, materials science, logistics, or similar disciplines.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and willingness to travel to local ports and client locations.
