Job description
Role Overview
We are looking for a Merchandising Production Designer to support a leading beauty brand in New York City. This freelance contract is planned for 3 months with the possibility of an extension, and it will follow a hybrid schedule in the NYC office.
Compensation
The pay rate for this assignment is $34 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert Art Director-approved creative into pre-production artwork, resizing and adapting it across all permanent merchandising formats and dimensions while keeping the output consistent before it is handed off to the mechanical production team.
- Create straightforward layout and bullnose design assets.
- Keep creative files and assets organized in a shared cloud-based storage environment.
- Prepare mechanical files and production-ready artwork for delivery to external vendors.
- Assist with retouching, color correction, and review of print proofs to ensure alignment with layout specifications.
Required Background
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud tools, especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
- Solid experience working in print production.
- Working familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong visual judgment in design, typography, and photography.
- Comfort collaborating with Art Directors to execute print artwork.
- Ability to handle production schedules and deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience in beauty or consumer goods retail is a plus.
