Role Overview
Join Marc Jacobs International's Merchandising team as a Merchandising Coordinator based in New York City (SoHo). You will work closely with the Lead Merchandiser to implement merchandising strategies and support business goals across Mainline and Outlet Leather Goods. This position requires collaboration across Design, Product Development, Planning, Production, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, and Regional Commercial teams to manage seasonal assortments from conception to launch. The ideal candidate is detail-driven, organized, proactive, and passionate about the fashion industry and consumer trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing seasonal product assortments from initial concepts to market introduction.
- Maintain and update assortment tools, line planning documents, and product data for merchandising cycles.
- Ensure the accuracy and consistency of product data across merchandising platforms including PLM, JOOR, and D365.
- Help develop seasonal strategies addressing product categories, design silhouettes, materials, colors, pricing, and assortment structures.
- Manage and track product sample flow throughout development, ensuring accurate records and timely communication with cross-functional teams.
- Prepare presentation materials for milestone meetings, product reviews, and leadership briefings.
- Monitor product lifecycle milestones each season and facilitate clear communication among involved departments.
- Support product launch preparations, including setup and readiness activities, along with seasonal marketing storytelling.
- Conduct market and competitive research on pricing, assortments, trends, promotions, and consumer insights to support merchandising decisions.
- Analyze past seasonal product performance to identify improvement opportunities and guide future assortment planning.
- Assist with ad hoc reporting, product performance analysis, and other merchandising projects as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Earned a Bachelor's degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, Marketing, or related discipline.
- Possess 1-3 years of experience in merchandising, buying, planning, or product management, preferably within fashion, accessories, or related consumer goods.
- Strong analytical ability to interpret sales data, inventory levels, and assortment effectiveness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with merchandising software like PLM, JOOR, or D365 is preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced workplace.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including presentation capabilities.
- Detail-oriented mindset coupled with a proactive, solutions-driven approach.
- Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective teamwork across departments.
- Self-motivated with a capacity to listen actively and integrate feedback constructively.
- A keen enthusiasm for fashion, consumer patterns, and product merchandising.
Preferred Competencies
- Experience working within seasonal merchandising cycles and product development schedules.
- Understanding of assortment planning, pricing frameworks, and retail performance metrics.
- A balanced approach combining analytical reasoning with product and consumer focus.
