Job description

Role overview

This position sits in a locally owned and operated retail store that focuses on health, beauty, and convenience needs in the community. The role is centered on keeping the customer experience front and center while ensuring products are organized, available, and presented well on the sales floor.

Merchandising duties

  • Keep backroom stock organized and follow Backroom Inventory Management procedures.
  • Use PDT and MMS systems to complete routine daily work.
  • Handle exit strategy activities and product returns when assigned.
  • Build strong knowledge of assigned inventory areas, including product placement and expiry tracking.
  • Maintain store presentation standards so the location looks current, tidy, and on-brand.
  • Set up product displays so they are customer-friendly and easy to shop.

Receiving responsibilities

  • Accept incoming merchandise according to receiving rules and procedures.
  • Keep the backroom clean, orderly, and aligned with backroom organization practices.
  • Complete the required paperwork for receiving and returning goods.
  • Support the Front Store Manager or Assistant Front Store Manager in upholding quality and operational standards.

Customer service expectations

  • Maintain a professional appearance that follows the uniform policy and dress code.
  • Proactively greet and help customers while they are in the aisles.

General duties

  • Follow all health and safety requirements.
  • Work in line with all store standards.
  • Adhere to loss prevention rules and procedures.
  • Carry out additional duties as needed.

Qualifications and work style

The ideal candidate shows sound planning and judgement, works efficiently, stays organized and neat, and can adapt when conditions on the sales floor change. If cash-related duties are assigned, accuracy and efficiency in processing customer orders are important.

Experience and skill requirements

Some familiarity with computers and cash registers is needed. The role also calls for strong record-keeping, attention to detail, independence, and a self-motivated approach to work.

Working conditions

This is a flexible-shift role that may include evenings, nights, and weekends.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb a ladder.

Compensation
