About the Role
Clera is an innovative healthtech startup, funded by venture capital, dedicated to the meticulous and independent evaluation of medical imaging AI technologies. Our mission is to bridge the divide between impressive benchmark results and dependable clinical performance, supporting medical imaging firms in their FDA submission journeys by delivering vital evidence throughout the product development life cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage complete customer projects, including leading meetings, defining key evaluation objectives, and outlining the scope of investigations.
- Develop and conduct detailed studies to assess model behavior, generalizability, failure modes, and uncertainty.
- Examine medical imaging workflows such as DICOM/PACS and radiology processes, and convert insights into actionable evaluation data.
- Produce comprehensive, trustworthy reports and presentations tailored for regulatory bodies and internal teams under strict deadlines.
- Work closely with clients and interdisciplinary teams to guide go/no-go decisions and influence strategic product outcomes.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines, or equivalent professional experience.
- Practical experience with medical imaging systems and workflow integration including DICOM/PACS and radiology pipelines, alongside embedding ML models within clinical setups.
- Between one to seven years of relevant experience in machine learning evaluation or medical imaging AI.
- Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with key ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Expertise in MLOps and model evaluation involving reproducible evaluation pipelines, model validation and monitoring, as well as containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience in the healthcare sector.
- Understanding of regulatory standards for medical AI including FDA approval pathways like 510(k) and De Novo.
- Ability to communicate complex technical results clearly to both regulatory and non-technical audiences.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range of $150,000 to $230,000, contingent on experience.

Work Location
This position is full-time and requires physical presence at our San Francisco, CA office. Remote work arrangements are not available. Additionally, please note that visa sponsorship is not offered for this role.
