Job description
Role Overview
Kennedy Engineering is seeking a practical, motivated Mechanical Fitter to become part of its team in County Waterford, Ireland. This is a broad, hands-on position with work split between the company workshop and client locations. Projects cover several sectors, including pharmaceutical, medical device, manufacturing, and industrial environments.
What You Will Do
- Build and assemble custom steelwork and mechanical parts to specification.
- Fit structural steel, pipework, machinery, and assorted mechanical systems on site.
- Perform both scheduled upkeep and urgent repair work at customer premises.
- Carry out mechanical fitting, repair, and modification tasks on industrial equipment.
- Work from engineering drawings and translate them into accurate practical work.
- Maintain safe, efficient working practices while working alone or with others.
- Keep workmanship, quality, and workshop/site housekeeping at a consistently high level.
What We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will ideally bring prior experience in a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, Fabricator, or similar engineering position. A strong practical mindset, sound mechanical understanding, and the ability to solve problems on the job are important. You should be comfortable reading engineering drawings, adaptable to different project types, and able to communicate well as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
- Previous welding or fabrication work, especially MIG, TIG, or Stick processes.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, or manufacturing settings.
- Valid Safe Pass, Manual Handling, MEWP, or similar site safety credentials.
Additional Information
A full clean driving licence is preferred for this role.
