Role Overview
We are looking to hire a Mechanical Estimator at our Head Office in Ballymount, Dublin 22, to support our continued success within the Data Centre Industry. Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Estimator, this role plays a key part in preparing cost estimates and managing subcontractor pricing to support building projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed management reports for bids and monthly performance reviews.
- Prepare precise estimates based on project drawings and specifications.
- Calculate quantities and develop accurate pricing documentation.
- Oversee pricing inputs from Irish and European subcontractors and suppliers for building components.
- Use spreadsheets to compare subcontractor bids and document the justification for selections.
- Contribute to maintaining the company’s cost database.
- Present estimates to the Estimating Director and Board of Directors when necessary.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and engineering teams.
- Stay updated on trends and changes within the construction industry.
- Assist in creating and applying quality control processes to ensure the high standard of estimating documents.
- Adhere to established quality assurance protocols.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior estimation staff.
- Coordinate efforts with CSA & Electrical Estimators to ensure cohesive project estimation.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of four years’ experience in a Mechanical role, preferably within estimating or quantity surveying.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts is advantageous.
- Strong command of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Proficient with at least one common quantity surveying or bill of quantities production software such as Buildsoft or CostX.
- Committed to delivering high-quality subcontractor tender documentation and bid submissions.
- Able to proactively identify potential project risks.
- Appreciates and adheres to rigorous safety standards.
