Role purpose
The position is for a Mechanical Engineer focused on rotating equipment and related machinery engineering support within project delivery.
Key mission
You will be responsible for steering rotating equipment engineering work according to project scope, budget, schedule, and quality expectations. The role also requires close coordination with project interfaces and control of incoming and outgoing technical information.
You will also help capture lessons learned from projects to improve working methods, align practices, and strengthen continuous improvement. In addition, you will apply company standards and track key performance indicators throughout the project.
Core responsibilities
The engineer is expected to complete assigned activities while maintaining QA/QC and HSE compliance at all times.
- Provide technical support across business development, feasibility, and project execution tasks.
- Review tender documents and prepare technical material for equipment inquiries during bidding activities.
- Evaluate vendor quotations and machinery offers from a technical standpoint.
- Prepare material take-offs to support construction cost estimates.
- Assist in defining cost inputs and engineering man-hour estimates for the machinery discipline.
- Support the review of contractual technical documents and project requirements.
- Help establish engineering requirements and discipline interfaces while simplifying designs and aligning them with performance needs.
- Prepare requisition packages such as technical specifications and mechanical data sheets.
- Support technical negotiations with vendors and review subcontracted engineering deliverables.
- Prepare technical comparisons and evaluations for rotating equipment submitted by suppliers.
- Follow up engineering work after purchase order award and coordinate interfaces for machinery packages.
- Review vendor drawings, provide comments, and complete finalization in coordination with process and other technical teams.
- Take part in internal reviews and interdisciplinary review meetings.
- Support other disciplines in engineering activities such as utilities, electrical load lists, layouts, 3D model coordination, and routing.
- Assist with expediting, testing, document control, and preparation of certified final documentation.
- Support project functions such as procurement and construction.
- Contribute to construction inspection planning and help prepare equipment weight and dimension data for construction support.
- Support construction and start-up activities as needed.
