Job description

About the Role

Join Tesla's Engineering team in Freiburg, Germany, where we innovate in sustainable energy by developing advanced power electronics for energy storage and electric vehicle charging systems. You will work collaboratively across engineering disciplines to tackle real-world challenges, turning concepts from initial designs through prototyping and testing into practical solutions.

Role Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively on modeling and designing mechanical parts and assemblies such as plastics, sheet metals, heat sinks, insulation systems, magnetic components, high-voltage connectors, and fasteners.
  • Assist with mechanical design analyses including thermal, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), structural finite element analysis (FEA), as well as considerations for assembly and testing.
  • Engage in resolving electronic packaging challenges encompassing electrical isolation, sealing, thermal management, interconnections, shock and vibration mitigation, electromagnetic interference, and radio frequency communications.
  • Coordinate closely with mechanical, systems, electrical, control, manufacturing, industrial design, and testing teams to advance designs from prototyping to mass production.
  • Support prototype builds and component fabrication processes.
  • Develop engineering test plans and prepare detailed template drawings and manufacturing instructions for parts and assemblies.

Candidate Profile

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrates reliability and the ability to work independently.
  • Exhibits enthusiasm towards new technologies and engineering possibilities.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction across diverse groups and issues.
  • Possesses an analytical mindset with a hands-on, problem-solving approach.
  • Proficient in English language.
