Materials Planner - Oilfield Services and Equipment

Role overview

Baker Hughes is looking for a Materials Planner to help manage and improve inventory strategies for the region. In this position, you will support material availability, reduce excess stock, and ensure planning processes align with business demand.

This role sits within a global energy-technology business with a long track record in helping make energy operations safer, cleaner, and more efficient. The internal title for this position is Manufacturing Specialist - Materials Management.

Inventory management

• Track stock positions closely to keep materials available while avoiding overstock.
• Review inventory patterns to spot slow-moving, obsolete, or surplus items.
• Assist with stock reduction efforts and working-capital improvement goals.

Demand and supply planning

• Examine forecast inputs and translate them into material requirements that fit business demand.
• Build and maintain material plans using customer demand, sales projections, and operational needs.
• Keep supply and demand in balance to prevent shortages and excess inventory.

Procurement coordination

• Partner with procurement teams to make sure purchase orders are raised and delivered on time.
• Track order progress, lead times, and delivery promises with procurement stakeholders.
• Push urgent materials through when business conditions require faster action.

SAP and data management

• Keep planning settings, master data, and stock records accurate in SAP.
• Monitor MRP outputs and respond with the right planning actions.
• Maintain strong data quality across inventory and planning workflows.

Stakeholder collaboration

• Work with operations, manufacturing, sourcing, logistics, and sales teams to support shared goals.
• Take part in supply-chain review meetings and share updates on material availability.
• Raise risks early and propose mitigation steps for shortages or supply interruptions.

Reporting and analysis

• Prepare recurring reports covering inventory performance, stock availability, backorders, and supply risk.
• Review KPIs such as inventory turns, DSOH, OTIF, and forecast accuracy.
• Suggest process improvements that make the supply chain more efficient.
