Job description

Job Overview

The Material Engineer will be responsible for carefully reviewing project specifications, drawings, and material requirements to identify the most appropriate materials tailored to each project's needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and assess construction and fit-out materials by researching their quality, performance, cost-effectiveness, and availability to provide informed recommendations.
  • Prepare and submit all necessary documentation including material submittals, technical data sheets, samples, and compliance certifications for approval by consultants or clients.
  • Work closely with suppliers, manufacturers, consultants, and internal teams to obtain timely material approvals.
  • Ensure that all materials meet project specifications as well as international standards and UAE regulatory requirements.
  • Perform material inspections and quality assessments upon delivery to validate compliance.
  • Maintain thorough records of approved materials, samples, test certificates, and all related technical documents.
  • Assist procurement teams by evaluating suppliers, conducting technical comparisons, and supporting sourcing activities.
  • Monitor ongoing material performance and provide solutions for technical issues encountered during the project execution phase.
  • Coordinate with site and production teams to guarantee proper material usage and adherence to installation procedures.
  • Contribute to value engineering efforts by suggesting alternative materials that maintain quality standards but optimize costs.
  • Ensure all materials comply with sustainability standards, durability, safety measures, and environmental regulations.
  • Generate detailed material reports and keep track of material approvals systematically.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
  • Between 5 and 8 years of relevant experience covering material engineering, construction projects, or interior fit-out assignments.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with consultants, contractors, and suppliers within the UAE market.
  • Familiarity with luxury hospitality sector requirements and customized interior fit-out materials.
  • Proven knowledge of quality control methods and material testing protocols.
