Job description

Overview

Vintage Cash Cow is hiring a Marketplace Assistant to help keep the Marketplace running safely, smoothly, and efficiently. This is a practical, hands-on role focused on stock movement, housekeeping, communication, and day-to-day support across several teams in a busy environment.

Location: Valley Mills, Drighlington, Leeds, England, United Kingdom. You may also be asked to work occasionally at the main site in Overland Park, Gildersome, Morley.

Department: Marketplace

Compensation: £26,250 per year

What the role involves

You’ll support different departments every day, helping with stock quality, safe movement of items, workspace organisation, and quick problem-solving. The work can change direction at short notice, so you’ll need to stay organised, flexible, and comfortable switching between tasks while keeping standards consistent.

Early focus in the role

  • Get to know the site layout, the main departments, and how stock flows through the business.
  • Learn safe methods for moving stock and using basic equipment in a busy setting.
  • Build strong working relationships with the teams you support.
  • Understand daily priorities and how to manage several tasks at once.
  • Follow safe working practices in all routine activities.

As you develop

  • Work on your own while maintaining reliable, high-quality output.
  • Spot repeat issues and risks, then report them appropriately.
  • Suggest improvements that help with flow, safety, organisation, and efficiency.
  • Show ownership, consistency, and pride in your work.
  • Gain experience using internal systems, including scanning and stock movement processes.
  • Learn what needs to be recorded, reported, and escalated, and to whom.

Key responsibilities

  • Keep work areas clean, organised, and aligned with 5S standards: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain.
  • Make sure walkways, aisles, and fire routes remain clear at all times.
  • Move stock safely and accurately to the right locations, with proper documentation where needed.
  • Follow PPE rules and safe working procedures consistently.
  • Support inbound and outbound activity through checks and careful handling.
  • Complete handovers clearly at the end of shifts.
  • Report hazards immediately.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and department leads when priorities change.

Goals of the position

  • Help maintain a safe workplace through strong housekeeping and awareness of hazards.
  • Support steady, accurate, and safe stock flow across Marketplace departments.
  • Provide dependable, professional support to colleagues and customers, particularly during busy times.
  • Reduce the risk of damage, loss, misplaced stock, and unsafe handling.
  • Reflect the company’s values through professional teamwork and behaviour.

Skills and experience needed

  • A strong sense of responsibility and commitment to completing tasks properly.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and a cooperative team-first approach.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities can shift quickly.
  • Clear, calm, and professional communication skills.
  • A safety-conscious approach with strong attention to detail.
  • The physical ability to carry out general warehouse duties, including manual handling of items up to 30kg, with training and support provided.
  • Confidence to work independently while earning trust across teams.

Nice-to-have experience

  • Experience in similar flexible, task-based roles within warehouse or logistics environments.
  • Previous exposure to strong housekeeping standards.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement practices.
