Job description
About Cotswold Energy Group
Cotswold Energy Group is an expanding sustainable energy company that works with both households and businesses to deliver practical energy improvements. Its offering includes heat pumps, solar panels, batteries, energy storage, underfloor heating, and wider low-carbon solutions designed to improve building performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
The Opportunity
This position is ideal for a marketer who enjoys getting involved in every part of the function and wants to have a clear impact in a small, growing, purpose-driven organisation. Rather than joining a large team with rigid structures, you will help shape the marketing approach from the outset and contribute directly to business growth.
The business is looking for someone with solid experience across campaigns, content, CRM, email, and social media, who is ready for greater ownership, variety, and commercial influence. External specialists will support areas such as PPC and SEO, while you will be responsible for the overall plan, coordination, content creation, campaign delivery, and alignment with business goals.
Role Overview
The Marketing Lead will manage the company’s day-to-day marketing activity across both consumer and business audiences. A major priority is driving growth among able-to-pay homeowners interested in sustainable home energy products such as heat pumps, solar, batteries, and energy storage, while also supporting marketing for commercial and B2B activities.
You will work closely with leadership and sales to convert business objectives into effective marketing initiatives. The role covers social media, email, CRM, content, campaigns, customer communications, lead generation, and supplier coordination. It is a very hands-on role involving planning, writing, launching, measuring, and improving activity, as well as helping build the systems and processes needed for future scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and execute a practical marketing plan that supports brand visibility, lead generation, customer engagement, and revenue growth.
- Run integrated campaigns aimed at both residential and commercial audiences.
- Shape marketing activity for homeowners interested in sustainable energy and home upgrade solutions.
- Own social media planning and delivery, including content scheduling, messaging, posting, engagement, and performance reviews.
- Develop email campaigns from start to finish, including audience segmentation, copywriting, scheduling, testing, and analysis.
- Support CRM-driven marketing, including customer journeys, lead nurturing, data hygiene, and follow-up activity.
- Produce content across multiple formats such as website copy, blogs, case studies, customer updates, email, social posts, landing pages, and sales assets.
- Partner with sales and operations teams to understand customer needs, campaign priorities, and lead quality.
- Coordinate and brief external suppliers, freelancers, and consultants, including support for PPC, SEO, and other digital performance work.
- Manage campaigns across digital, content, CRM, website, event, and sales-enablement channels.
- Monitor results, analyse performance, and use insight to improve future campaign outcomes.
- Keep all communications aligned with the brand voice and visual standards.
- Help create marketing processes, templates, reporting methods, and ways of working as the function matures.
- Track competitor activity, industry changes, and customer behaviour across the energy, renewables, and sustainability sectors.
Requirements
You should be a commercially minded marketer who is comfortable working across multiple priorities in a smaller business where speed, practicality, and measurable outcomes matter. The role suits someone who can think strategically while also being comfortable handling execution personally.
You will need to communicate effectively with both consumers and businesses, and translate products, services, and customer needs into clear, persuasive marketing messages.
- Experience in a Marketing Lead, Marketing Manager, Senior Marketing Executive, Campaign Manager, or similar hands-on position.
- Background in both B2C and B2B marketing.
- Strong delivery experience with social media, email, and multi-channel campaigns.
- Ability to plan campaigns, build content calendars, and create customer communications.
- Strong copywriting and content creation skills across email, social media, websites, blogs, case studies, and sales collateral.
- Experience using CRM platforms to support marketing, nurture leads, or communicate with customers.
- Good understanding of campaign analysis, lead generation, and marketing reporting.
- Comfort working with sales teams and turning commercial objectives into practical marketing actions.
- Experience managing several campaigns, projects, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Excellent organisation and strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable working hands-on with limited internal marketing support.
- Able to work from the Stonehouse office 2–3 days per week.
- Desirable: experience with Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar CRM/marketing automation tools.
- Desirable: experience in energy, renewables, sustainability, home improvement, construction, property, utilities, or technical services.
- Desirable: experience marketing products or services to homeowners.
- Desirable: experience coordinating agencies, freelancers, consultants, or other suppliers.
- Desirable: awareness of PPC, SEO, and digital performance marketing, with the ability to brief specialists.
- Desirable: experience supporting events, webinars, trade shows, local campaigns, or community outreach.
- Desirable: experience helping build marketing processes or a marketing function in a growing company.
Skills and Attributes
- Proactive and delivery-focused approach.
- Commercial awareness and results orientation.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Ability to create compelling content and campaign messaging.
- Broad marketing capability across multiple channels.
- Comfort working with smaller budgets and evolving processes.
- Creative yet practical thinking.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to review results and recommend improvements.
- Collaborative style with confidence in working alongside sales, operations, and senior leaders.
- Interest in sustainability, energy efficiency, and low-carbon technologies.
What’s Offered
- Salary of £40,000 to £45,000 per year.
- Hybrid working arrangement, with 2 to 3 days per week in Stonehouse.
- A high-ownership role in a growing sustainable energy business.
- The chance to help build the marketing function from an early stage.
- Exposure to the full marketing mix rather than only one specialism.
- Support from external consultants for specialist digital activity.
- Long-term sector relevance in an industry focused on innovation and sustainability.
How to Apply
Candidates who are hands-on marketers with experience in both B2C and B2B campaigns, and who want to build and deliver marketing activity in a sustainability-focused business, are encouraged to express their interest with a CV and a short summary of relevant experience.
