Job description
About the Organization
EEM, formerly known as Eastern European Mission, has spent decades providing Scripture and Bible-based resources to people across Eastern Europe and beyond. Since 1961, the organization has worked with local churches and ministries to place God’s Word into the hands of people in more than 30 languages across 35+ countries.
The mission is centered on helping people encounter hope, truth, purpose, and the message of Jesus in a language they understand. Each Bible delivered is intended to support people searching for answers and spiritual direction.
Role Overview
EEM is looking for a senior marketing leader to shape the organization’s brand, donor communications, creative direction, and overall marketing strategy. This is a highly hands-on leadership role for someone who can turn ideas into action, guide campaigns from concept to completion, and help grow awareness and support for the mission.
The Marketing Director will build and implement an annual marketing plan that strengthens the brand, increases donor engagement, supports fundraising goals, and improves performance across multiple channels. The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking, creative storytelling, analytical discipline, and strong execution.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead annual marketing planning, define goals and KPIs, and build reporting systems that track results and guide improvement. You will look for new ways to expand donor engagement, raise visibility, and generate greater financial support, while working closely with executive leadership to align marketing with broader organizational priorities.
You will also oversee EEM’s brand across all communications, ensuring consistency in voice, visual identity, messaging, and storytelling. This includes strengthening the organization’s presence among donors, churches, ministry partners, foundations, and prospective supporters.
Campaign leadership will be a major part of the job. You will direct integrated fundraising campaigns across print, direct mail, email, digital, social media, video, web, and live events, and develop marketing calendars that keep efforts coordinated across channels.
Creative direction will include donor appeals, annual reports, newsletters, videos, website content, social content, presentations, advertising, and other promotional materials. You will collaborate with internal teams and external creative partners such as designers, writers, photographers, videographers, and agencies.
The role also includes leading storytelling efforts that communicate the real-world impact of God’s Word, translating ministry outcomes into donor-facing messages that encourage long-term connection and generosity.
On the digital side, you will oversee website strategy, email marketing, social media, video, paid digital efforts, and search optimization, using analytics and emerging tools to improve engagement and reach.
You will help lead and develop the marketing team, manage outside vendors and freelancers, and work cross-functionally with development, donor relations, publishing, finance, and executive leadership. You will also manage budgets, keep priorities organized, and make sure campaigns are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard.
Requirements
The ideal applicant should hold a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, business, or a related discipline. A minimum of 7 years of progressive marketing leadership experience is required, ideally in nonprofit, ministry, fundraising, or other mission-driven settings.
Applicants need a proven record of building and executing marketing strategies that deliver measurable outcomes, along with experience running integrated, multi-channel campaigns. Strong creative judgment, excellent writing and editing ability, and a talent for storytelling are essential.
The role also calls for a solid grasp of donor engagement and fundraising communications, plus experience with websites, email and direct marketing tools, social media, video, and digital campaigns. Strong project management, attention to detail, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary, as is the ability to work independently in a virtual environment.
Successful candidates must also demonstrate deep alignment with EEM’s mission, values, and statement of faith, and be willing to travel both domestically and internationally.
Preferred experience includes leading marketing teams in a Christian ministry or nonprofit, using donor CRM platforms such as Virtuous, DonorPerfect, Salesforce, or Blackbaud, and working with Google Analytics, SEO, paid advertising, and marketing automation tools. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, modern content tools, video production, and oversight of outside creative partners is also desirable.
Physical Demands
This job may require regular standing, walking, sitting, reaching, using the hands, and lifting or moving up to 40 lbs. It also involves domestic and international travel for extended periods, including long flights, irregular schedules, and changing conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be provided where appropriate.
