Job description
About HeadBox
HeadBox is a fast-growing event technology company focused on improving how people plan and book venues for events. The business connects customers, spaces, and event professionals through smart tech and specialist support to create smooth, high-value experiences. Founded in 2015, HeadBox Australia launched in 2020 and has grown quickly under local leadership.
Role overview
HeadBox is hiring a commercially minded, hands-on Marketing Communications Manager to lead everyday marketing and brand execution during a key growth phase. This position sits with the CEO, works closely with the global team and external agencies, and is centred on delivery rather than high-level strategy.
The role requires someone who can manage priorities, coordinate stakeholders, keep projects on track, and ensure all campaigns and communications are delivered accurately, on time, and in line with the brand and business goals. The successful candidate will act as the internal client for agency partners, review work critically, and push for stronger outcomes where needed.
Key responsibilities
- Run marketing and communications delivery across both B2B and B2C audiences.
- Create and manage content for the website, email, social media, and other digital channels.
- Protect brand consistency and maintain high quality across all customer-facing touchpoints.
- Execute integrated campaigns that improve awareness, engagement, and sales pipeline.
- Write polished copy, articles, case studies, and sales materials.
- Coordinate public relations, partnerships, and stakeholder communications with internal teams.
- Spot opportunities to strengthen brand visibility and audience interaction.
- Lead the day-to-day relationship with creative, SEO, paid media, and PR agencies.
- Prepare clear briefs, review outputs, give feedback, and hold partners to deadlines and results.
- Question work that does not meet the brief, brand standards, or commercial expectations.
- Work with the global team to keep messaging and execution aligned across markets.
- Manage delivery across email marketing, website CMS, SEO, and social channels.
- Coordinate campaign launches, content schedules, and supporting creative assets.
- Partner with performance and global teams to ensure a smooth customer journey handoff.
- Own marketing schedules, dependencies, and deliverables across multiple workstreams.
- Work with sales, product, global, and external stakeholders to keep projects moving.
- Build and deliver email campaigns and automated lifecycle journeys, including segmentation and optimisation.
- Ensure lifecycle activity is integrated into wider campaign and customer journey plans.
- Handle rollout logistics so assets, approvals, and dependencies are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Support pitch decks, proposals, and presentations with strong formatting and messaging.
- Keep documentation, workflows, and reporting systems organised and up to date.
- Track campaign and channel results such as engagement, CPA, conversion, and retention signals.
- Interpret performance data, identify what is driving outcomes, and recommend next actions.
- Share clear, action-oriented updates with leadership rather than only presenting numbers.
Requirements
- 4 to 7+ years of experience in marketing, brand, or communications roles.
- Previous work in a startup or scale-up environment is strongly preferred.
- Agency-side experience or solid client-side agency management experience is needed.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver campaigns and juggle several priorities from start to finish.
- Strong attention to detail and a track record of producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Excellent organisation skills, including managing timelines, dependencies, and stakeholders.
- A naturally curious mindset with the confidence to challenge assumptions and ask better questions.
- Understanding of how marketing activity contributes to commercial performance and growth.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to tailor tone and messaging for different audiences.
- Keen sense of brand, design, and content quality.
- Comfort working with senior leaders, cross-functional teams, and outside partners.
- Willingness to give feedback, push back when necessary, and build alignment.
- Experience using CRM and marketing platforms such as HubSpot or similar tools.
- CMS experience such as Strapi or an equivalent platform.
- Ability to use GA4 and campaign reporting tools.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Canva.
Perks and package
- Salary above award levels.
- Flexible arrangements, including part-time work or a 9-day fortnight for the right person.
- Hybrid working setup.
- Volunteering days aligned to the company’s social mission.
- Continuous training and development.
- Company MacBook provided.
- Regular team social events.
Additional information
This is a fast-paced scale-up environment where you will be trusted with real ownership and the freedom to improve how things are done. The company values people who care about doing the job properly, ask thoughtful questions, and can bring together people, agencies, and ideas to deliver effective marketing.
HeadBox also emphasises flexibility so team members can do their best work while balancing life outside work.
