Job description

About the opportunity

This is a newly established senior-level marketing and brand position within a large, multi-offer organisation serving the tourism and visitor economy. The role has been created as the business expands, and it offers the chance to influence the direction of a high-profile portfolio.

What you will do

  • Take ownership of the marketing and brand strategy for a varied tourism portfolio, spanning headline experiences, newer products, and key awareness-building priorities.
  • Serve as the main marketing representative for the tourism business unit, working closely with operational leaders and senior stakeholders.
  • Coordinate integrated brand activity across multiple channels, including social media, content-led EDMs, and traditional media such as out-of-home, radio, and print, while collaborating with digital/performance, creative, PR/partnerships, and trade teams.
  • Set strategic direction and guide campaign delivery, while remaining comfortable being hands-on with creative thinking, content development, and copywriting when needed.
  • Work across a distributed team and multiple locations, with regular face-to-face engagement playing an important part in the role.
  • Lead a small team covering earned/content and campaign support, strengthening consistency and building capability.
  • Spend time on site and travel occasionally to stay closely connected with stakeholders and maintain effective working relationships; this is not a desk-bound role.

What you will bring

  • Substantial senior marketing experience, paired with strong brand instinct and sound creative judgement rather than a purely performance-led approach.
  • Leadership ability that allows you to influence others, create alignment, and develop capability, even if you have not previously managed a large team.
  • Commercial understanding of how revenue is driven and how brand decisions, marketing channels, and trade-offs work together.
  • Confidence working across the full marketing mix, including content, social, email, and traditional media, while partnering effectively with digital/performance, creative, PR/partnerships, and trade specialists.
  • The ability to prioritise effectively within a complex portfolio by setting a clear baseline, focusing effort, and saying no where needed.
  • High energy, flexibility, and comfort in a fast-moving environment, along with a genuine openness to outdoors and conservation values.

What is on offer

  • A rare opportunity to influence the marketing direction of a prominent tourism portfolio with strong variety and meaningful impact.
  • High visibility with senior stakeholders, as the role sits between strategy development and everyday decision-making.
  • A practical leadership position where your ideas, taste, and judgement will be relied on.
  • The chance to enjoy the Queenstown lifestyle in a role suited to someone who likes being out with stakeholders rather than sitting behind a desk all day.
  • A stable, well-resourced organisation with ambitious brand-building work ahead.

How to apply

Applications are to be submitted through this advertisement. They will be reviewed as they are received, and shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

References will be requested at the appropriate stage, so please do not include them on your CV.
