Role overview
This contract opportunity is for a Manufacturing Team Lead (MAP Lead) supporting an aerospace manufacturer in the Oberpfaffenhofen / Weßling area of Bavaria, Germany. The assignment is expected to run for 6 to 9 months and offers a contractor rate equivalent to €91,000 per year.
The role sits at the centre of day-to-day Manufacturing, Assembly and Production activities in a tightly controlled aerospace environment. It combines practical shop-floor leadership with operational coordination to keep output on track, maintain quality standards and meet customer expectations. The successful person will act as the main contact for production teams and help strengthen efficiency, improvement activity and team development across the facility.
A solid grasp of aerospace manufacturing methods, assembly processes, production planning and people leadership is essential.
Key responsibilities
- Direct and oversee manufacturing, assembly and production work across the site.
- Set and manage daily production priorities so delivery plans and operational goals are met.
- Guide, support and lead manufacturing technicians, assemblers and other production staff.
- Coordinate shop-floor activity to improve throughput, quality and resource use.
- Track workflow, available capacity and output performance to spot and remove constraints.
- Assist with the launch of new products and the ramp-up of new manufacturing processes.
- Ensure work is completed to engineering drawings, work instructions, quality standards and customer requirements.
- Champion improvement initiatives that raise safety, quality, cost performance and delivery results.
- Work alongside Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Programme teams to address production issues and raise manufacturing performance.
- Help investigate root causes and implement corrective actions for quality or production problems.
- Maintain compliance with aerospace standards, internal procedures and regulatory obligations.
- Run daily production meetings and share updates on performance, risks and priorities.
- Support workforce planning, training and capability development within the team.
- Review KPIs linked to productivity, quality, delivery and safety.
- Encourage a culture built on accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Background in a Manufacturing Team Lead, Production Team Lead, Manufacturing Supervisor or comparable leadership position.
- Experience in aerospace, defence, precision engineering or another highly regulated manufacturing sector.
- Proven ability to lead production teams and coordinate manufacturing operations.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly work and production planning.
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing records.
- Experience in an AS9100, ISO9001 or similarly controlled quality environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and decision-making capability.
- Track record of improving operations through continuous improvement work.
- Good communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
- Hands-on people management experience, including coaching, mentoring and performance management.
