Role overview
This is a 12-month contract for an experienced Manual Tester to support testing activities in a large enterprise technology setting. The position is based in Dublin with a hybrid arrangement, requiring attendance onsite one day each week. The daily rate is €200 to €280.
What you will do
- Assess functional and technical design documents to confirm they are ready for testing.
- Draft precise, actionable acceptance criteria that can be tested.
- Determine the test data needed for each testing activity.
- Develop and run test scenarios for functional, non-functional, regression, edge-case, conformance, and disturbance testing.
- Log, monitor, and control defects through issue-tracking systems.
- Assist business users and stakeholders during UAT and business process testing.
- Preserve traceability across requirements, acceptance criteria, test cases, and defects.
- Record test procedures, outcomes, and quality documentation.
- Support test estimation, planning, and delivery-related documentation.
- Review automated test scripts when coverage, quality, or effectiveness needs checking.
- Spot opportunities where automation could add value.
- Guide junior testers and help improve testing practices over time.
What we are looking for
We are seeking a QA professional with at least 5 years of software testing experience, strong hands-on manual testing capability, and the confidence to work with both technical teams and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate should have ISTQB certification, a solid grasp of testing standards and best practices, and proven experience in enterprise environments.
Technical and process knowledge
- Experience creating and executing detailed test cases and test scenarios.
- Background in system testing, UAT, regression testing, conformance testing, and defect handling.
- Comfort using defect tracking and test management tools.
- Understanding of acceptance criteria, requirements traceability, test data, and quality documentation.
- Familiarity with API testing concepts and tools such as Postman or SOAP UI.
- Experience testing applications built on Java and Angular stacks.
- Working knowledge of SQL, XML, JSON, and Unix/Linux environments.
- Exposure to Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, business users, and project stakeholders.
Nice-to-have experience
- Awareness of test automation methods.
- Experience reviewing the scope or quality of automated test coverage.
- Prior experience mentoring junior testers.
- Exposure to large-scale public sector, financial services, or enterprise delivery environments.
Additional information
This role is offered as an initial 12-month contract and is based in Dublin with hybrid working. Onsite attendance is required one day per week. The role is intended for an experienced professional and is not described as an internship.
