Role Overview
Berkley Group is seeking a Consumer Insights Consultant to provide flexible, high-impact research support across a wide mix of business areas, audiences, and research approaches. This contract role is based in Cork with a hybrid working pattern.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver end-to-end research support across multiple business categories and methods in a fast-moving environment.
- Step in quickly as a responsive resource for the Consumer Insights function when priorities change or urgent research is needed.
- Own ad hoc and strategically important research work with little time required to get up to speed.
- Work closely with other Consumer Insights colleagues to handle incoming requests and support common business goals during busy periods.
- Partner with stakeholders across product, design, marketing, and sales to shape and run research that drives decisions.
- Coordinate with external research partners and manage the progress and quality of outsourced studies.
- Cover research across Gaming, Personal Work Solutions, and B2B, with a focus on both consumer and business audiences.
- Use a broad toolkit of methods such as quantitative surveys, qualitative interviews, shopper research, brand tracking, feature evaluation, and website usability work.
- Maintain and improve research knowledge systems by structuring and keeping repositories easy to access and use.
- Turn findings into clear stories that explain consumer behaviour, business impact, and practical next steps.
- Balance agency oversight with direct execution, including DIY research when speed, budget, or business needs demand it.
- Produce actionable consumer intelligence that supports business choices and contributes to growth.
Experience and Skills Needed
- At least 7 years of experience delivering consumer insights or market research in a fast-paced corporate or agency setting.
- A highly adaptable approach, with the ability to move smoothly between different categories, methods, and business questions.
- Strong project management ability, including handling several research tracks, budgets, schedules, and external partners from start to finish.
- Strong command of qualitative and quantitative techniques, including in-depth interviews, focus groups, concept testing, audience segmentation, A&U studies, UX and website testing, and shopper journey research.
- Solid understanding of consumer segmentation and audience framing, with the ability to apply insights to product and go-to-market planning.
- Excellent presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex information into clear, visual, and practical outputs.
- Experience collaborating across multiple time zones in a global organisation.
- Working knowledge of AI tools such as Gemini and NotebookLM.
- Prior experience in contractor, freelance, or consulting roles within a global matrixed structure.
- Exposure to consumer hardware/software areas such as gaming and technology peripherals, as well as B2B technology markets.
- Familiarity with research repository systems and knowledge management tools.
