The team
Deloitte New Zealand’s tax practice is recognised as a leading specialist team. This Christchurch-based opportunity is for an experienced corporate tax professional ready to step up into a Manager or Associate Director role and help strengthen a successful local team.
In this position, you will lead people, support them to deliver meaningful outcomes, and play a part in client growth, sales activity, and practice development.
Role overview
You will manage a varied portfolio of clients, handling a wide range of corporate tax matters. The role involves building strong client relationships, delivering high-quality tax guidance, and working closely with client businesses to help them progress and manage risk.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialist tax guidance to a broad range of clients.
- Oversee and grow a portfolio of client relationships.
- Help clients reduce tax risk and support their business goals.
- Coach and mentor team members to build capability.
- Use modern tools and approaches to improve service quality and efficiency.
What you need
To be successful, you should bring at least 6 years of experience in a professional services or corporate tax setting, along with a recognised qualification in law or accounting. A solid understanding of NZ tax rules and end-to-end tax processes is important.
You should also have strong communication and organisational skills, a proactive and energetic approach, and a strong focus on achieving results while staying client-centred.
Additional information

The company also emphasises creating an environment where diverse perspectives are valued and everyone has an equal chance to develop and succeed.
Rewards and benefits
The role comes with a rewards approach that goes beyond pay alone. Benefits include flexible working arrangements, subsidised professional qualifications and memberships, subsidised health insurance, income protection insurance, 22 days of annual leave, social events and sports teams, monthly firm drinks, wellness support, volunteer days, and a focus on sustainability and the environment.
