Role Overview
The Manager - Production for the Heavy Machine Shop will oversee and ensure the execution of production activities aligned with project timelines. This position requires hands-on operational expertise in various heavy machinery and effective coordination across departments to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement production plans to meet delivery deadlines of projects.
- Apply extensive operational knowledge on Lathe, Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL), Grinding and Milling machines such as GPM, PM, and Heavy Boring Machines (HBM).
- Utilize sound understanding of CNC programming to optimize processes.
- Maximize utilization of available heavy equipment and manpower resources efficiently.
- Continuously monitor and enhance machine productivity and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Ensure strict compliance with quality standards aiming to reduce rework and non-conformance reports.
- Manage production scheduling, daily operations, and shop floor control effectively.
- Drive process improvements to reduce cycle times for essential components.
- Collaborate with teams from Planning, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Methods departments to streamline workflows.
- Enforce safety regulations and foster a workplace culture targeting zero incidents.
- Lead resolution efforts for any production-related issues on the shop floor.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating methodologies such as Lean, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Six Sigma.
- Oversee production costs and manage optimal utilization of resources.
- Support development and upskilling of team members to build capability.
