Job description

Role Overview

As Manager of People Partnering at the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand, you will play a crucial leadership role in shaping workforce capabilities and organizational success. Leading a team of People Advisory and Recruitment professionals, you will collaborate with senior leaders to develop strategic workforce plans, enhance leadership skills, and implement people-focused solutions that help achieve ambitious goals.

As part of the People and Capability Leadership team, you will contribute to equipping the organization for current and future challenges while promoting an inclusive, high-performing culture rooted in core values.

Regular nationwide travel will be required to maintain strong relationships and coordinate efforts across teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead People Partnering, Advisory, and Recruitment functions across the organization
  • Develop and coach a high-performing HR and recruitment team
  • Provide strategic people advice that enhances organizational performance and manages change
  • Guide leadership teams on people-related priorities, associated risks, and opportunities
  • Ensure employment relations, recruitment, and people management practices are practical, efficient, and fair
  • Collaborate across departments to create coherent and tailored people solutions
  • Utilize data, analysis, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement of people services

  • Strategic and experienced leader with strong HR expertise, especially supporting large-scale frontline workforces
  • Authentic leadership style with a demonstrated ability to build trust and influence senior leaders quickly
  • Proven success in leading cohesive, high-functioning teams under complex conditions
  • Extensive knowledge of employment relations, recruitment, and broader human resources with pragmatic business application
  • Confident in handling complex and sensitive people issues and navigating ambiguous situations
  • Excellent relationship-building, influence, and stakeholder management abilities
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and professional judgment
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities in complex organizational environments
  • Ability to translate workforce insights into impactful organizational outcomes

Compensation

The salary for this position ranges from NZD 160,911 to 224,304 per year, with a midpoint of NZD 197,441. Initial salary offers will depend on the candidate’s skills, knowledge, experience, and internal alignment.
