Job description

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for steering projects in the Operations Sector at SOPC so that operating efficiency improves and project delivery becomes more standardized. The position focuses on applying proven project management methods and operational best practices to support the organization’s wider operational objectives.

Resource Planning and Allocation

  • Distribute people and resources in a way that improves efficiency, while adjusting to changing project needs and priorities to meet operational targets.

Project Planning and Delivery

  • Develop project plans and manage execution for initiatives within the Operations business unit, making sure work stays aligned with SOPC’s goals and timelines.
  • Work with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, deliverables, and expected outcomes clearly.
  • Track progress and day-to-day execution to ensure timely completion and the required quality level, while coordinating across functions for smooth delivery.

Performance Tracking and Reporting

  • Measure project performance using relevant metrics and prepare detailed updates for stakeholders on progress, risks, and milestone completion.
  • Review project information to spot trends and support sound decision-making, while keeping leadership informed with clear and transparent communication.
  • Improve project tracking systems and reporting formats so updates remain current and data stays accurate.

Risk Identification and Mitigation

  • Evaluate possible project risks and create practical mitigation plans to reduce negative effects on timelines and outcomes.
  • Oversee risk response actions and ensure teams are ready to handle issues early and effectively.
  • Monitor risk management practices to keep them aligned with SOPC’s strategic direction and to support ongoing improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Involve stakeholders in strategic planning to gather input and ensure project goals match business needs.
  • Schedule regular reviews and updates with key stakeholders to maintain alignment and collect feedback for improvement.
  • Assess communication methods to strengthen collaboration and keep projects moving forward.

Continuous Improvement and Best Practices

  • Capture lessons from completed projects and apply the most effective practices to upcoming initiatives.
  • Lead post-project reviews to support organizational learning and improve processes over time.
