Role Summary

The Manager of Media Sales is tasked with elevating advertising revenue within broadcast and streaming sports content. This involves managing daily sales activities, fostering client relationships, and developing partnerships. The role requires collaboration with various departments to provide integrated media solutions encompassing both broadcast and streaming platforms. It plays a key role in implementing go-to-market strategies, discovering new income channels, and driving revenue growth within a fast-paced sports media landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve yearly revenue goals for sports advertising inventory, including commercial spots during games, pre- and post-game content, streaming, and digital extensions.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with regional/local advertisers, media agencies, and brand partners.
  • Spot emerging market categories and identify new business aligned with sports demographics.
  • Collaborate with Programming, Production, and Marketing to harmonize inventory and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Ad Operations to ensure smooth execution and delivery of campaigns.
  • Work alongside Director of Partnership and Broadcast Solutions to use audience insights for persuasive sales efforts.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, media consumption, and competition in sponsorship.
  • Create innovative advertising formats such as branded content and digital/social sponsorships.
  • Maintain CRM for accurate tracking of contacts, discussions, and deals.
  • Partner with Legal to finalize contracts and partnership agreements.
  • Manage scheduling, trafficking, and fulfillment of all partner-related media inventory across broadcast, digital, and streaming.
  • Keep updated media calendars and inventory records for television and streaming platforms.
  • Guarantee contracted media assets are delivered on time per agreements.
  • Communicate schedules, creative requirements, and changes with broadcast partners and internal teams.
  • Monitor campaign progress and adjust as needed to meet goals, supporting inventory forecasting and reporting.
  • Prepare proof-of-performance documents and campaign summaries for clients and sales teams.
  • Assist in valuation and measurement of media assets; increase revenue through strategic use of team marketing materials, including signage and promotions.
  • Coordinate with Partnership Activation to align marketing assets with partner strategies to maximize marketing impact.
  • Ensure proper fulfillment of sponsor benefits as agreed in contracts.
  • Support execution of sponsored media during games and special events.
  • Help organize postseason, event, and promotional campaigns.
  • Participate in departmental events, hospitality activities, and partner activations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience in media sales, especially with a record in sports advertising.
  • Competent in selling across linear TV, streaming, digital, and new platforms.
  • Strong negotiation skills capable of handling deals valued in six to seven figures.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-moving, deadline-oriented workplace.
  • Excellent communication, presentation skills, and strategic planning capabilities.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university coupled with 3 to 5 years of advancing sales experience in sports media and partnership roles is required.
