Overview
Book of the Month seeks a driven Manager for Inventory and Merchandising Strategy to lead the development and implementation of inventory controls and merchandising initiatives. This role blends business creativity with advanced analytical abilities to align inventory management with merchandising strategies for our book selections. Effective candidates will engage deeply in analytical experimentation as well as strategic planning and precise operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Create integrated processes linking merchandising and inventory that enhance demand forecasting in line with merchandising plans.
- Manage a project roadmap to test merchandising concepts aimed at improving member experience within the user interface, coordinating closely with product and engineering teams for implementation.
- Design and collaborate with engineering on new tools and reports that forecast inventory requirements using diverse data inputs.
- Lead the comprehensive planning cycle of all inventory-related tasks, coordinating multi-functional teams to develop demand forecasts.
- Adopt and apply an analytical approach to generate reports that monitor inventory status and support agile decision-making.
- Develop an inventory management strategy aligned with clear business goals.
- Gather and disseminate member feedback from surveys, social media, and customer service interactions to yield actionable insights and inform follow-up actions.
- Maintain ongoing communication with cross-team partners such as Product and Operations to share insights and facilitate new implementations.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum five years' experience in inventory management, product merchandising, or retail analytics, preferably within subscription services.
- Exceptional analytical capability.
- Proven success in generating new reports or procedures enhancing performance.
- Adaptability to thrive in fast-moving and iterative work environments with a strong work ethic.
- Innovative mindset with enthusiasm for generating new ideas.
- Excellent organizational skills coupled with strong problem-solving aptitude and meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience overseeing and guiding junior team members.
- Passion for reading and contemporary fiction; prior or current membership with Book of the Month is highly valued.
Compensation
The salary for this position ranges from $100,000 to $140,000 annually.
