Overview
Auckland Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to lead the iconic Ōrewa Beach Holiday Park as a full-time, permanent, onsite Manager. This role offers the unique chance to oversee one of New Zealand’s renowned beachfront holiday parks, including a competitive salary and a three-bedroom residence on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership of operational and commercial aspects of Ōrewa Beach Holiday Park.
- Manage day-to-day park operations to ensure high standards and outstanding guest experiences.
- Lead and develop a motivated, high-performing team focused on service excellence.
- Improve business outcomes through growth initiatives, operational efficiency, and continuous improvements.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Handle budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial management to meet performance goals.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with stakeholders, including local businesses, mana whenua, community groups, and tourism partners.
- Collaborate on strategic planning and council-wide holiday park initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- Proven leadership skills with excellent communication, capable of engaging diverse customers and stakeholders.
- Experienced in managing holiday parks, campgrounds, accommodation, or tourism/hospitality operations.
- Strong operational management skills including facilities and customer service oversight.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) with accurate administrative and data entry capabilities.
- Preferred experience with customer service platforms, online booking systems, property management software, digital marketing, SAP, and project management.
- Committed to health and safety standards; holds or willing to obtain First Aid and Site Safe Certification.
- Current New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence and experience coordinating contractors and tradespeople.
- Ability and/or willingness to operate vehicles and equipment such as utility vehicles, tractors, ride-on mowers, and related software systems.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification (degree or diploma) in business management, hospitality, tourism, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years management and business experience in a customer-oriented, hospitality, tourism, or small business environment.
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and additional cover on short notice.
- Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

The park is a large, active four-star Qualmark beachfront holiday destination with diverse camping and accommodation options, set among Pohutukawa trees beside Ōrewa Beach reserve and the Hibiscus Coast Highway.
