Job description

Overview

The Manager will conduct thorough and objective analysis and deliver timely, high-level advice to Senior Executives, ensuring the department meets its goals in providing child and family services. This includes areas like out of home care, after care, secondary and tertiary support, youth support, and tailored services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team focused on system redesign and commissioning related to child and family services.
  • Research and provide guidance on modern commissioning and program frameworks that reflect evidence and best practices at local, national, and international levels.
  • Deliver detailed analysis, advice, and proposed innovative solutions addressing new trends and challenges affecting service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
  • Facilitate coordination and collaboration with program, policy, and regional stakeholders to ensure effective communication and inform business requirement development, monitoring, and review.
  • Oversee development and implementation initiatives aligned with government commitments and ministerial/director general directives, adhering to deadlines, performance standards, and budget constraints, while enhancing team capabilities.
  • Establish and maintain productive partnerships across government and non-government entities to support program design and delivery and represent the unit on committees and working groups.
  • Prepare strategic analysis and advice to assist Directors and Senior Executives in advising the Minister, Director-General, and senior management.
  • Contribute to the formulation of strategic frameworks, Cabinet Budget Review Committee submissions, and evaluation models to support the government’s Child and Family Services reform agenda.

Essential Qualifications

  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of current policies, practices, trends, and philosophies pertinent to human and social services provision.
