Position Overview
The Manager Audit and Assurance is a key leadership role responsible for steering the audit, risk, and assurance activities within the organisation. This includes ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and policy requirements while enhancing governance, integrity, and resilience throughout the agency. The position also involves developing a comprehensive assurance map and implementing a risk-focused internal audit program to work synergistically with existing assurance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the agency's audit, risk, and assurance functions to amplify governance and organisational robustness.
- Develop and maintain enterprise risk management and assurance frameworks, including mapping organisational risks.
- Oversee fraud and corruption control, including management of Public Interest Disclosures.
- Provide expert, evidence-based advice to executive leadership and governance committees.
- Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
About You
The ideal candidate is an accomplished audit, risk, or governance specialist, experienced in crafting modern audit and assurance frameworks within complex entities. Proficiency in leading internal audits, enterprise risk initiatives, fraud control, and governance activities aligned with organisational goals is essential. A sound understanding of public sector governance, compliance, risk principles, and applicable legislation equips you to advise senior stakeholders effectively.
You possess strategic insight, exceptional analytical and communication abilities, and outstanding stakeholder engagement skills. You are adept at identifying emerging risks, navigating dynamic environments, and balancing priorities to achieve pragmatic outcomes. Your collaborative approach paired with independence and sound judgement enhances your influence and partnership with leadership teams.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in governance, audit, risk management, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
- Significant experience designing and executing audit, risk, and assurance frameworks that align with organisational risks and objectives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of risk management principles, governance frameworks, fraud and corruption control methods, and assurance practices.
