Role overview
Christchurch Engine Centre is hiring a hands-on Maintenance Tradesperson to support facilities and maintenance activities across the site. This permanent full-time role is based in Christchurch and focuses on keeping plant, equipment, and buildings operating safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out routine fitting work, repairs, and general maintenance tasks.
- Supervise and coordinate contractors performing work on site.
- Look after equipment, plant, buildings, and related infrastructure.
- Help maintain housekeeping standards and contribute to a safe workplace.
- Administer permit-to-work processes, including confined space entry and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
- Inspect equipment and confirm compliance with safety requirements.
- Perform electrical testing in line with NZS 3760.
What we are looking for
- A dependable, adaptable, and proactive person with a strong focus on safety and quality.
- NZ Level 4 National Certificate in Mechanical, with the ability to handle a wide range of maintenance duties.
- Practical experience in facilities, plant, and equipment maintenance.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- Self-driven, well organised, and able to prioritise work effectively.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
- Hands-on knowledge of maintenance work, electrical testing, permit-to-work systems, and working at heights.
- A positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.

About the organisation
Christchurch Engine Centre is a joint venture between Pratt & Whitney and Air New Zealand, providing maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for all V2500 engine variants.
