Job description

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with experience in either mechanical, electrical, or both disciplines to join a dynamic team operating in a 3-shift schedule (early, late, and night). This role involves routine upkeep, preventive maintenance, and urgent repairs of diverse production and engineering machinery. The successful candidate will be part of an established technician team reporting directly to a Maintenance Manager.

Key Duties

  • Reduce machinery downtime by diagnosing breakdowns and implementing solutions to prevent repeat issues.
  • Utilize mechanical and electrical schematics for fault identification and plant modification tasks.
  • Execute planned and preventive maintenance using a Maintenance Management System.
  • Participate in initiatives to improve equipment reliability and minimize recurring faults.
  • Ensure a safe, clean work environment compliant with all company environmental, health, and safety policies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to expand maintenance skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct mechanical and electrical tasks including fabrication, welding, and minor electrical installations as necessary.

Candidate Profile

  • Completion of a recognized time-served apprenticeship along with at least Level 3 certification such as BTEC or City and Guilds.
  • Multidisciplinary proficiency in industrial electrical and/or mechanical systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems, welding, and fabrication.
  • Ability to interpret electrical/mechanical diagrams and troubleshoot control panels effectively.
  • Medical clearance for working at heights and confined spaces is mandatory.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of standard office software.
  • Demonstrates resilience, resourcefulness, sound judgment, and a decisive approach.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work autonomously within a collaborative shift team setting.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary of £42,000 per annum, with paid overtime rates between £26 and £27 per hour.
