Job description

Role overview

HC-One is seeking a Maintenance Operative with practical experience across maintenance, building work, DIY, cleaning, and housekeeping. The role also calls for an understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, along with useful IT ability where available. A thoughtful, respectful manner is essential when speaking with residents and colleagues.

What the job involves

In this position, you will help keep residents’ homes safe, well cared for, and consistently maintained through proactive checks and timely repairs. You will complete inspections and audits, keep records current, and handle a variety of repair and upkeep tasks.

  • Carry out routine property inspections and maintenance checks.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records and audit documentation.
  • Undertake general repairs and improvements such as replacing taps or mixer valves, installing extractor fans, repairing timber around bedroom windows, and applying new wallpaper in dining areas.
  • Work in a considerate and compassionate way with residents, visitors, and co-workers.

Safeguarding and compliance

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility. You should be able to recognise signs of abuse, harm, or neglect, understand the correct response, and raise concerns appropriately, including escalation where needed. All colleagues must complete safeguarding training relevant to their role and take any additional required training in related areas.

Benefits

Full training is provided, making this a strong opportunity to build new skills. The package also includes a wide range of wellbeing, reward, and career-support benefits.

  • Hourly pay depends on experience and qualifications.
  • Enhanced DBS/PVG check paid for by the employer.
  • Free uniform provided.
  • A nutritious meal is available during shifts of eight hours or longer.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • 28 days of annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays.
  • Group life assurance cover.
  • Wagestream access for flexible, on-demand pay.
  • Learning and development support, including help toward qualifications.
  • 24/7 GP consultation service for you and your children under 16 through an app.
  • Opportunity to learn from experienced team members within a committed workforce.
  • Discounts at more than 1,600 high street retailers and selected partners.
  • Free, confidential employee assistance support for physical, mental, and financial wellbeing, available to colleagues and their families around the clock, every day of the year.
  • Recognition schemes including Kindness in Care and Long Service Awards.
  • Refer-a-friend reward of up to £1,000 depending on the role.
