Job description

Role Overview

Apleona Ireland is seeking a Maintenance Officer to work from its Sligo location. The position is structured around an onsite schedule and is suited to someone who can handle a wide range of building and facility upkeep tasks to a consistently high standard.

Working Pattern

The usual shift arrangement is Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00, and Friday from 08:00 to 15:00.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out everyday maintenance across buildings, equipment, and outdoor areas while keeping standards high.
  • Complete scheduled checks of the facility and identify issues early so they can be dealt with before they escalate.
  • Respond to faults in building systems, machinery, and appliances in an efficient manner.
  • Follow all safety rules and maintenance procedures to maintain a safe, low-risk working environment.
  • Escalate hazards or safety concerns to the Site Manager without delay.
  • Flag defective tools or equipment and advise on repairs or replacements where needed.
  • Work closely with colleagues and supervisors to keep tasks moving smoothly.
  • Ensure required services and inspections are completed either internally or by approved external professionals with minimal disruption.
  • Perform routine upkeep inside and around the building according to the maintenance timetable.
  • Investigate equipment problems, diagnose faults, and complete repairs promptly.
  • Undertake painting tasks as scheduled and keep fixtures and appliances in good condition.
  • Check tools and equipment regularly and maintain them in proper working order.
  • Coordinate subcontractors when needed and oversee work carried out by third parties.
  • Look after the outside of the property, including landscaping, debris removal, and general outdoor presentation.
  • Support custodial work when required, including cleaning shared areas, handling recycling, and dealing with spills or similar cleanliness issues.
  • Arrange supplies and replenish stock when necessary.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of maintenance work and facility concerns.
  • Comply with all Apleona policies and procedures.
  • Protect confidentiality in relation to clients, former clients, and business matters.

Qualifications and Experience

The role calls for prior experience in a similar setting, including post-qualified experience and experience in building services maintenance. Because the work can be physically demanding, strong fitness is required. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with flexibility and adaptability to changing job needs.

Additional Information

This position is intended for an individual who is comfortable taking responsibility for a broad range of maintenance duties and can work effectively in a busy facility environment.
