Role overview

This full-time Maintenance Cleaner role reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for helping keep the building and surrounding grounds at TD Station safe, orderly, and clean. All work must be carried out in line with TD Station JHSC expectations, workplace violence and harassment training, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and WorkSafe NB guidelines.

The position pays $19.24 per hour according to the collective bargaining agreement and includes union benefits. This posting remains open until September 4, 2026.

Key duties

• Handle routine daily cleaning tasks independently.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in arena hallways and open areas, dressing rooms, offices, the garbage room, laundry areas, floors, doors, elevators, and under the bleachers.
• Use a floor scrubber when needed on concourse and arena-level floors, as well as the ice deck during the off-season.
• Clean and maintain additional spaces such as the main lobby, administrative offices, the box office, and mechanical/electrical rooms when directed.
• Support exterior upkeep through general cleaning, painting, mowing, trimming, and other grounds-care work.
• Keep walkways and stairways clear of winter hazards.
• Carry out game-day and event-day setup tasks, including skirted tables, chairs, pipe and drape, and similar requests from departments or clients.
• Operate and help maintain facility equipment and fleet assets such as a forklift, ride-on scrubber, tractor, golf cart, and truck.
• Use forklifts safely for shipping and receiving, moving conversion materials, lifting staff in a man cage, and relocating items around the property, including production or convention equipment when needed.
• Support ice maintenance by helping Building Attendants with tasks such as moving or filling ice resurfacers, while not performing resurfacing itself.
• Assist with work such as changing light bulbs, clearing toilets and sinks, and replacing ceiling tiles, while broader mechanical maintenance remains outside the role unless assigned by the Operations Manager or Facility Technician and compensated accordingly.
• Help Building Attendants, Concessions, Custodial, or Event Staff with minor tasks when requested by the Operations Manager.
• Step in with conversion or custodial work during emergencies, staff shortages, or major scheduling constraints.
• Support ice installation by cleaning the ice deck with a floor scrubber and scraper, mixing or sealing paint, and cleaning up paint, chalk, or excess water afterward.
• Assist the Facility Technician with removing melted ice or paint during ice removal.
• Manage snow-removal duties during bad weather under the direction of the Operations Manager, including shoveling, sanding, and salting sidewalks and stairs to reduce risk to guests and staff.
• Track sand and salt usage, maintain inventory of sand, salt, shovels, and fuel, and carry out basic upkeep of the tractor and snow blower.
• Coordinate snow-shoveling crews arranged by the Operations Manager and oversee them so stairs and entrances stay as clear and ice-free as possible; extra pay is provided when directing shovellers.

Working conditions and union terms

This is a unionized full-time role governed by the working agreement of C.U.P.E. Local #3985. The job may require regular hours, as well as weekends and evenings. Candidates must be prepared for physically demanding labour and seasonal outdoor conditions.
