Role Summary

The Maintenance and Facility Officer will work on site in Lagos and will be responsible for keeping the company’s facilities running smoothly on a daily basis. The position covers routine checks, preventive upkeep, and repairs across building systems, equipment, and shared spaces so that the environment remains safe, tidy, and fully functional. The role also involves working with external vendors and contractors, planning maintenance activities, following internal facility procedures, and supporting safety standards. In addition, the officer will respond to maintenance-related needs from staff and guests and help improve the overall physical environment while working closely with hospitality operations to reduce disruption and protect guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and common areas to identify issues early.
  • Plan and oversee preventive maintenance and repair activities for facility systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure maintenance work is completed effectively.
  • Follow company facility management policies, procedures, and schedules.
  • Monitor health, safety, and risk-control standards across the workplace.
  • Handle facility requests from internal teams and guests in a timely manner.
  • Support ongoing improvements that enhance the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the property.
  • Work with hospitality operations to limit downtime and maintain a positive guest experience.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated background in facility operations or facility management, including building systems, maintenance planning, and vendor oversight.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety practices, compliance expectations, and risk management in hospitality or commercial settings.
  • Strong communication ability for working with colleagues, contractors, and leadership.
  • Customer-focused mindset with an emphasis on maintaining a dependable and comfortable environment for guests and staff.
  • Technical or vocational training in facility management, engineering, building services, or a related area; FM or HSE certification is a plus.
  • Ability to organize priorities, troubleshoot issues, and work independently in a busy service environment.
  • Practical exposure to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or general building maintenance is an advantage.
