Job description

Role overview

The Machinery Control Engineering Specialist will deliver expert-level support in machinery control engineering to help the department meet its objectives and align with the company strategy. This role acts as both a subject matter expert and a technical authority in the machinery control domain.

Key accountabilities

  • Provide specialized support in machinery control systems engineering to advance division strategy and goals, including design reviews, studies, failure analysis, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Create and maintain surveillance and administration programs for critical control systems to support high levels of reliability, availability, and cyber security.
  • Develop, document, and promote best-practice methods within the area of expertise, and recommend initiatives that improve performance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and/or technical authority in the specialist area.
  • Plan and organize work schedules to ensure tasks are completed effectively and section/division KPIs are achieved.
  • Provide technical guidance to other disciplines and functions whenever required to support business objectives.
  • Oversee and direct the work of contractors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Support less experienced engineers in applying the company’s integrity and reliability systems.
  • Build competency development plans and mentor national development candidates to strengthen their skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.

Experience and knowledge

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in an oil and gas environment.
  • Hands-on exposure to turbo machinery control applications such as GE, CCC, or Triconex.
  • Strong understanding of international standards including IEC, ANSI/ISA, and API RP, with the ability to apply them appropriately.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with a range of engineering software tools.
