Job description

Role Summary

Simcoe County District School Board is looking for a long-term occasional teacher for a Grade 7/8 assignment at Oro-Medonte, Ontario. The principal for this placement is Rob Norris.

Application Notes

When you submit your application, you will be required to answer four written interview questions. Administrators may also follow up with additional questions if needed.

You will also be asked to respond to two extra questions: whether you identify with any of the four equity-deserving groups recognized under federal legislation, and whether you have five or more years of permanent contract teaching experience with another board that can be verified through your resume and application.

FTE Information

1.0 FTE represents full-time work, or 5.0 days per week. The following conversions are also used: 0.9 FTE = 4.5 days, 0.8 FTE = 4.0 days, 0.7 FTE = 3.5 days, 0.6 FTE = 3.0 days, 0.5 FTE = 2.5 days, 0.4 FTE = 2.0 days, 0.3 FTE = 1.5 days, 0.2 FTE = 1.0 day, and 0.1 FTE = 0.5 days per week.

Teacher Duties Under Regulation 298

In line with Ontario Regulation 298, teachers are expected to carry out instructional, supervisory, and administrative responsibilities, along with the duties normally associated with the completion of pupil graduation requirements.

  • Deliver effective instruction, assess student progress, manage the class, and report progress to the principal when requested.
  • Carry out assigned supervision and instructional programs and provide related information as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers appointed under the regulation and with the principal on all matters connected to student instruction.
  • Be in the classroom or teaching area on time and prepared before classes begin, unless directed otherwise.
  • Support the principal in maintaining positive relationships with the community.
  • Prepare lesson plans and outlines as required and submit them upon request.
  • Follow all reasonable safety procedures in the courses and activities they oversee.
  • Help maintain consistent discipline practices across the school with the principal and colleagues.
  • Complete and process report cards properly according to provincial guidance.
  • Assist with the administration of EQAO testing.
  • Attend regular meetings with parents or guardians.
  • Perform duties related to student cooperative placements as assigned.
  • Carry out duties commonly associated with student graduation.
