Role overview
The Logistics Officer is accountable for tracking incoming sales orders and making sure every order reaches the correct destination on time and in full. This position works closely with the planning team to keep dispatches running smoothly.
Key duties
- Support a safe workplace by following health and safety rules, using the correct PPE, and applying good manufacturing practice standards.
- Comply with both company and legal safety obligations, carrying out all tasks in a careful and responsible way to protect yourself and others.
- Look after equipment and facilities properly, while maintaining housekeeping standards to the highest level across all areas under your responsibility.
- Oversee shipment of all orders, including dispatches handled from the off-site warehouse.
- Arrange transport in line with business requirements.
- Prepare the documents needed for all dispatches.
- Make sure accredited standards and bodies such as BRCGS, ISO, FSC, PEFC, and FSAI are followed as part of everyday production activities.
- Coordinate collection of raw materials from outside suppliers as directed by the Planning Department.
- Work with the assistant planner to help the department run smoothly when the planning manager is unavailable.
- Keep an accurate, current log of all shipments sent to customers from both warehouses.
- Check incoming logistics-related invoices for accuracy and completeness.
- Forward dispatch notes to the accounts team promptly so invoicing can happen on time.
- Coordinate with the warehouse so pick lists are issued and completed quickly for all orders.
- Organise customer return collections and ensure the relevant people are informed.
