Role Overview
The Logistic Support Service Manager leads a team responsible for parts management and inventory oversight, ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of aviation components. This role is crucial in delivering operational excellence through strategic planning and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and assign tasks to Logistic Support Services Specialists, Coordinators, and Lead Hands
- Track team performance, enforce operational standards, and meet deadlines
- Lead regular operational meetings to address performance and priorities
- Coordinate activities across Material Control, Maintenance, Procurement, and Repair & Overhaul units
- Manage parts requests, shipping logistics, and inventory updates promptly
- Handle urgent aircraft on ground (AOG) situations, approving escalations and ensuring swift resolution
- Develop and refine logistics support processes and reporting mechanisms
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations including Dangerous Goods and WHMIS standards
- Identify and implement improvements to boost efficiency and reduce costs
- Prepare comprehensive management reports and metrics to inform decision-making
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary diploma or equivalent in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business
- Required certifications: Dangerous Goods and WHMIS; Preferred: Receiving Inspector, Dangerous Goods Specialist, and Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Supply Chain professional designations
- Minimum of five years' relevant experience in logistics, supply chain, or aviation maintenance support
- Proven leadership ability in operational environments
- Decision-making skills under operational pressure
- Strong planning, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication skills
- Experience driving process improvements and resolving complex issues
