Job Overview
Agilus by Synergie is seeking a Logistics Manager for a plastics industry company located in Burlington, Ontario. The role focuses on leading logistics strategy development and execution to ensure efficient global trade operations. This position manages key partnerships with carriers, customs brokers, and courier services while providing expert advice on transportation, customs compliance, and regulatory issues. The successful candidate will ensure compliant, cost-effective international and cross-border logistics processes, enabling operational excellence and supporting global supply chain goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, document, and standardize logistics workflows and best practices across North American locations.
- Serve as the primary expert and center of excellence in trade compliance, logistics operations, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead logistics process development and execution, collaborating with suppliers, carriers, customs brokers, and legal advisors.
- Advise on tariff impacts and devise strategies to reduce cost exposure. Monitor regulatory changes and coordinate cross-functional responses. Liaise with external advisors, customs brokers, legal teams, and trade partners to ensure compliance and optimize processes.
- Build and sustain strong partnerships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and courier providers.
- Select and allocate transportation providers to meet service, cost, and reliability goals.
- Ensure import/export activities comply with all regulations, including USMCA, CBSA, U.S. CBP, EAR, ITAR, and sanctions.
- Oversee classification of products (HS/HTS codes) and country-of-origin determinations.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
- 7 to 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, and international trade, preferably within manufacturing.
- Deep understanding of cross-border trade regulations and compliance such as USMCA, CBSA, U.S. CBP, EAR, ITAR.
- Proven expertise managing carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and third-party logistics partners. Experience with tariff classification (HS/HTS), country of origin, and duty optimization.
- Track record in developing and implementing logistics strategies, procedures, and continuous improvement programs.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CITT, CSCMP, customs/trade compliance) are advantageous.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with ability to influence across departments and regions.
- Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems.
