About the role
Qatar Airways is hiring a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (B1) for Light Maintenance within Technical Engineering in Doha. In this position, you will carry out aircraft maintenance work that directly supports flight operations, including maintenance checks and duties that fall under your authorization. The role calls for technical expertise, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Operational responsibilities
- Organize assigned work in a practical and efficient way, and use tools or equipment for the task while following Qatar Airways and customer procedures.
- Assess existing work methods and standards, and recommend changes where they do not support effective execution.
- Take responsibility for the final release of completed work, making sure tasks meet company and customer standards, including dispatch reliability and acceptable deferred defect levels.
- Ensure maintenance work is completed according to established policies and procedures, and that Qatar Airways/customer quality expectations are met.
- Support both internal teams and external customers in a professional and effective manner.
- Resolve technical issues within your authorized scope and help maintain aircraft/component serviceability to support schedule requirements.
Leadership responsibilities
- Supervise mechanics and technical assistants to ensure work is completed efficiently, follows procedures, and achieves task goals.
- Guide technicians and aircraft mechanics, including on-the-job coaching and training.
- Set team objectives and priorities so they align with business goals.
- Review team objectives, plans, and procedures regularly, and update them when necessary.
- Ensure staff under your control follow published technical and safety requirements, along with manual instructions, customer procedures, and other relevant publications.
- Assign priorities to the team so resources are used effectively and scheduled checks and tasks are completed on time.
- When overseeing others, make sure workmanship quality remains high and the appropriate tools are used for each task.

Qualification and experience
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification and have at least 4 years of role-related experience. Acceptable educational backgrounds include a diploma in aircraft maintenance, a trade or vocational aircraft maintenance qualification, or a degree such as B.Eng. or BSc in aircraft engineering, or an equivalent credential.
Candidates must also hold at least one full Qatar Airways main fleet ICAO/QCAA certification. For internal applicants, a minimum of 1 year of aircraft certifying experience as EN.01 is required.
