Role overview
Qatar Airways is seeking an Inventory Planning Specialist to support its Catering Services operation. This position focuses on keeping catering inventory available, accurate, and fit for use across a large international network. The role covers demand forecasting, procurement coordination, stock control, inventory lifecycle management, and the rollout of new items, all while supporting the airline’s service standards.
The work sits within a 24/7 aviation environment and requires close coordination with suppliers, logistics teams, product development, and other stakeholders across regions.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain the full catering inventory catalogue and ensure item records stay correct and current.
- Create and oversee a dependable global inventory forecast to guide operational planning.
- Track item usage and lifecycle trends so stock levels reflect real operational demand.
- Document inventory needs properly and keep them aligned with governance requirements.
- Handle procurement of inventory items while preventing stock shortages and targeting the lowest feasible unit cost.
- Manage worldwide inventory holdings and supplier buffer stock to support continuity and efficient storage.
- Supervise warehouse agreements and stock control processes in Doha and other international locations.
- Support the launch of new inventory items and the phased removal of obsolete stock from the network.
- Check incoming inventory deliveries against agreed specifications and take corrective action when needed.
- Work with suppliers and logistics teams to reduce transport costs and improve stock movement.
- Carry out additional duties assigned by the Head of Department that relate to this role.

This role also calls for strong analytical thinking, planning capability, and people leadership skills such as workflow coordination, mentoring, and team development.
Experience and technical background
- High School Diploma or Vocational Qualification, or a bachelor’s degree.
- At least 5 years of experience in demand and supply planning, logistics, procurement, global supply planning, or supplier management.
- Hands-on experience with ERP or stock control platforms such as Oracle, SAP, or Qosmos.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power BI for analysis and reporting.
- Solid understanding of forecasting methods and related algorithms.
