Job description
Summary
This role involves conducting in-depth fiscal and policy analyses to continuously assess departmental operations. Close collaboration with various state employees and agencies is essential to provide technical support and gather data related to program management.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with State agencies to shape primary components of operating budgets, ensuring requests and fund usage comply with the Budget Act.
- Conduct diverse studies that determine costs and justify budget requests or supplementary appropriations.
- Serve on multiple committees as a resource to supply accurate data and insights for budgetary and legislative deliberations.
- Provide forecasting for revenues and expenditures, enabling informed budget and legislative decisions based on the likely future financial status of the State.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Administration, Business, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Proficient in financial management areas such as program and budget analysis, financial planning, revenue and expenditure forecasting, cash flow oversight, and internal control systems.
- Experienced in developing and evaluating public policies and their fiscal impacts.
- Skilled in legislative analysis and offering recommendations for operational or procedural changes based on findings.
- Familiarity with standard office software including word processors, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Capable of producing clear, narrative reports.
