Role Summary
The Legal Trainee position is a full-time role in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with a hybrid working setup that allows some work from home. The successful candidate will support the legal function by reviewing and preparing contracts and other documents, carrying out legal research, helping resolve legal matters, and contributing to internal legal notes and reports. The role also includes liaising with internal teams and outside legal advisers, making sure records are accurate, compliant, and properly maintained.
Key Duties
- Review, draft, and organize contracts, agreements, and other legal paperwork across the Group’s business units.
- Research relevant laws and regulations that affect the organization’s operations.
- Assist in resolving legal issues and support the preparation of internal legal opinions and reports.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external counsel to keep legal matters moving efficiently.
- Help ensure documentation is compliant, correctly filed, and easy to retrieve when needed.
- Support compliance activities, including legal process improvements, template updates, and basic risk assessments.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should have a strong grounding in law and a working understanding of common legal issues in corporate and commercial settings. A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) or an equivalent qualification is required, and being enrolled in or eligible for local professional legal training is an added advantage. The role calls for solid research, analytical, and organizational abilities, along with close attention to detail. Candidates should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, managing several priorities at once, and meeting deadlines. Good written and verbal communication skills are important for collaboration with colleagues and outside partners. Familiarity with MS Office and basic legal research tools is expected, and a willingness to learn new systems is essential. Interest in media, technology, digital marketing, and consumer electronics will be considered a plus.
