About JerseySTEM

JerseySTEM is a purpose-driven professional network composed of volunteers devoted to enhancing STEM education and career opportunities for underrepresented middle school girls in New Jersey. The organization promotes gender equity by leveraging the skills and networks of its pro-bono contributors.

Role Summary

The Learning and Development Specialist role requires planning, organizing, and managing training initiatives for all JerseySTEM volunteers. Responsibilities include assessing training needs, developing training content for current and incoming volunteers, and collaborating with operational leaders for specialized training programs. The position reports to the Head of Human Capital.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine training materials and manuals across various disciplines within JerseySTEM.
  • Assess organizational training needs and propose opportunities for improvement.
  • Design and implement methods to evaluate training effectiveness and communicate outcomes with the Human Capital Director and the team.

Additional Information

This is an unpaid volunteer role requiring a commitment of approximately 4 to 6 flexible hours weekly for at least three months. Membership entails a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active participation; this deposit is waived for K-12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience with virtual learning technologies including training program design, development, and facilitation.
  • Strong oral and written communication as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage HR learning and development projects from start to finish.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and resourcefulness.
  • Dependable with a track record of accountability and delivering results.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in Human Resources, focusing on training, learning, or talent development.
