Job description
Overview
The Lead Technical Assistant is responsible for guiding and managing the technical assistants within specialized laboratory areas such as Parasitology, Cytogenetics, Microscopy, and Blood Transfusion Services. This role involves coordinating specimen procurement activities and ensuring adherence to quality standards set by international accreditation organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and resolve issues related to specimen collection and the work of technical assistants in various laboratory specialties.
- Assign daily tasks and schedules to technical assistants across hospital departments and clinics for specimen procurement.
- Support the onboarding and training of new technical assistants.
- Manage the distribution of laboratory reports efficiently.
- Maintain inventory and place orders for blood collection supplies.
- Perform blood collection duties as required.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory section policies, procedures, and protocols and implement quality improvement programs following standards from CBAHI, JCI, CAP, SFDA, and similar accreditation bodies.
Additional Duties and Compliance
- Comply with all hospital policies and participate in ongoing education and professional development.
- Undertake other related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree or Associate Degree/Diploma in Medical or Laboratory Technology or a relevant field.
- At least one year of relevant professional experience for Bachelor degree holders, or two years if holding an Associate Degree/Diploma.
- Valid registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and from the country of origin is mandatory.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic, both oral and written, is essential for effective communication.
- Non-Saudi applicants must have completed an approved accreditation process recognized in their home country.
