Job description
About the role
OpenTable, a part of Booking Holdings, is a leading hospitality technology company that connects millions of diners with more than 60,000 restaurant partners. With over 25 years in the industry, the company helps restaurants succeed by giving them tools to focus on their teams, guests, and business performance while helping diners find and reserve the right restaurant for any occasion.
As a member of the People & Culture team, you will make a direct contribution to the company’s work and be part of a global organization with a portfolio of metasearch brands. The culture is rooted in hospitality and a genuine commitment to supporting others.
OpenTable is hiring a Lead Recruiter, APAC. The role is primarily based in Melbourne with a hybrid arrangement that includes 2 days in the office. Sydney-based candidates who want a full-time remote arrangement are also being considered.
In this position, you will own talent acquisition strategy and execution across the APAC region. The role requires comfort operating in ambiguity, leading regional hiring efforts, and balancing hands-on recruiting with broader leadership responsibilities as a player-coach. You will also serve as a key partner to the business, with a strong focus on candidate experience and collaborative relationships across functions.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end recruiting for a range of APAC roles, including sourcing, screening, assessing, and recommending candidates.
- Set and drive the regional talent acquisition approach for APAC while acting as a player-coach in a complex and changing environment.
- Use creative sourcing methods, online talent sources, and networking to attract high-quality candidates and engage passive talent, while keeping pipeline activity updated in Greenhouse.
- Represent and promote the OpenTable employer brand across the region.
- Develop strong working relationships with hiring managers and stakeholders and act as a trusted recruiting advisor.
- Build, maintain, and review recruiting metrics and future talent pipelines to support upcoming hiring needs.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of recruiting experience in a fast-moving environment, with a history of managing multiple searches at once.
- Proven experience leading recruitment efforts in the APAC region and working effectively through uncertainty.
- A strong background as a trusted partner to hiring managers and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to combine hands-on recruiting with leadership and management responsibilities in a player-coach model.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities with both internal stakeholders and external candidates.
- Preferred: recruiting experience across functions such as Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Engineering.
- Preferred: experience using Greenhouse or a comparable applicant tracking system to manage hiring pipelines.
- Preferred: adaptability, flexibility, and a results-focused approach to building collaborative workplace relationships.
Benefits and perks
- Work remotely from almost anywhere for up to 20 days each year.
- Company support for mental health and well-being, including paid therapy sessions through SpringHealth and a company-paid Headspace subscription.
- An annual company-wide week off so the whole team can fully recharge.
- Paid parental leave.
- Generous paid vacation, plus a day off for your birthday.
- Paid volunteer time.
- Career development support, including Development Dollars, leadership development, and access to thousands of on-demand e-learning resources.
- Travel discounts.
- Employee Resource Groups.
- Annual reimbursement for health and wellness expenses.
- Monthly social events.
Work environment and flexibility
OpenTable operates as a global team across multiple time zones. While most work will follow standard business hours, there may be times when you need to respond outside regular hours by phone, Slack, or email to collaborate with international colleagues, support restaurant partners, or address urgent matters. Local laws and regulations will always be respected.
Inclusion and accommodations
OpenTable is committed to building an inclusive workplace where people can belong and do their best work. The company values diverse perspectives and aims to create a team as dynamic as the diners and restaurants it serves.
If you need support or accommodations during the application process, interview process, or in the role itself, you can request assistance through your recruiter.
