Job description
Role overview
This is a permanent full-time Lead Graphic Designer position based in Sydney with a hybrid setup, requiring 2–3 days in the office each week. The role sits with a global brand and calls for a highly experienced designer who can shape the visual identity of major campaigns and guide them from early concept to final, production-ready delivery. The successful person will set the creative standard and direction before work is passed to midweight, senior, and freelance designers for scaled rollout.
The salary offered is $120K+ super, with flexibility depending on experience. The planned start date is at the end of August 2026.
Key responsibilities
You will lead the creative development and production of campaign assets across digital, print, out-of-home, and partner channels. The role requires strong concept development, solid brand thinking, and the ability to turn briefs into original ideas with clear visual direction.
Alongside generating ideas, you will establish the look and feel, creative benchmarks, and production standards that other designers will follow. You will also brief, review, and coordinate designers and freelancers, making sure feedback is clear and the final output remains consistent and high quality.
Close collaboration with copywriters, art directors, and marketing stakeholders is central to the job. You will need to ensure campaign work supports the wider brand strategy while protecting brand integrity across multiple formats and markets. The role also involves handling several projects at once, responding to changing priorities, and working through approvals diplomatically while maintaining creative ambition within brand-safe boundaries.
Requirements
Applicants should bring substantial experience as a senior graphic designer, with clear progression into a lead or senior creative position. You must be able to think conceptually, not just execute briefs, and show a track record of developing original, high-impact creative ideas.
Strong production knowledge is essential, particularly across print, digital, and large-format or out-of-home specifications, with the ability to bring work to a polished final state. Experience creating and maintaining brand guidelines for a major brand is required, along with prior responsibility for briefing and managing designers or freelancers to ensure consistent output during scaled production.
Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, are needed. A strong portfolio demonstrating both campaign work and creative concept development is expected. You should also bring excellent attention to detail, strong communication and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to prioritise effectively under pressure. Experience in hospitality, government, tourism, or destination marketing would be beneficial, though it is not mandatory.
Additional information
This role is open to candidates who can provide a CV and a portfolio link as part of the application. The position is a permanent full-time opportunity with a planned start at the end of August 2026.
Inclusion statement
The employer supports an open, inclusive, and equal environment and welcomes applications from people of diverse backgrounds. Additional support for the interview process can be provided if needed.
