Role Purpose
This position oversees the electrical maintenance of Boiler, Turbine, and Generator (BTG) units to ensure dependable and efficient equipment functioning. The incumbent is responsible for enforcing strict safety and compliance standards, leveraging digital automation and innovation for process improvement, and fostering continuous team growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical maintenance planning and execution for BTG units ensuring alignment with strategic operational goals.
- Develop and implement maintenance systems including SOPs, job safety analyses (JSAs), and standard maintenance procedures (SMPs) to prevent equipment issues.
- Regularly review electrical test parameters and reports, verify compliance with limits, and initiate corrective measures when necessary.
- Manage scheduling and execution of plant shutdowns, annual overhauls, and major maintenance projects within planned timelines.
- Perform root cause failure analyses and troubleshooting to avoid repeat issues and ensure long-term equipment reliability.
- Implement technical standards and audits such as RCA, Management of Change (MoC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), zero failure objectives (ZFO), and compliance audits including ISO, IWMS, and 5S methodologies.
- Ensure completion of preventive, corrective, and condition based maintenance activities timely.
- Assist in budget planning for BTG maintenance operations and monitor spares inventory to optimize cost and availability.
- Oversee the execution of improvement initiatives within BTG and related systems to enhance performance.
- Supervise vendor and business associate performance ensuring adherence to quality and billing standards.
- Manage purchase requests following delegation protocols and monitor critical BTG equipment availability including excitation systems, switchgear, motors, battery systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Ensure prompt repairing and refurbishment of supporting equipment and track closure of maintenance notifications using SAP.
- Participate in knowledge sharing across sites to drive maintenance best practices.
- Uphold business sustainability by complying with IMS, AWMS, DISHA, ABEM, CHETNA guidelines, ensuring safety compliance and conducting technical and safety audits.
- Lead and participate in safety drills and hazard mitigation to maintain workplace safety.
- Manage all SAP work orders and identify enhancement opportunities for system upgrades.
- Ensure all legal, statutory, and licensing requirements including electrical and elevator certifications are met consistently.
- Drive digitalisation and automation projects to improve maintenance efficiency and departmental digital transformation.
- Foster a culture of adoption of innovative technologies for continuous operational improvements.
- Promote a positive and engaging work environment encouraging team collaboration, mentoring, and professional development.
- Manage manpower resources efficiently, including internal teams and external business associates.
- Encourage participation in seminars and conclaves for knowledge exchange and cross-site coordination.
Key Stakeholders
Internal: All operating departments, Head Office, Endorse and Service departments, Techno-Commercial teams.
External: Vendors and contractors supplying materials and services.
Educational and Professional Requirements
The candidate should hold a BE/B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with a Master's degree preferred. Candidates must have at least 15 years of proven experience in electrical maintenance within power generation or similar heavy industries. Prior experience with BTG equipment maintenance in the power sector is strongly preferred.
