About the Role
Owens Corning is hiring multiple General Production Workers to join the Layup Team at its large-scale Interior Door Manufacturing facility in Chilliwack (Yarrow), British Columbia, Canada. This plant produces between 6,000 to 10,000 doors daily, making this position crucial to meeting daily production targets.
Layup Team members are engaged in preparing raw materials, feeding components, assembling doors, and operating cold presses. Team members rotate among various Layup functions to ensure cross-coverage. This is the fastest-paced section of the plant requiring workers to perform repetitive motions on their feet for the entire shift while maintaining door quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and follow daily production schedules precisely to build the correct door models.
- Feed door components through a glue spreader in a specified sequence matching the build schedule.
- Operate conveyor and scissor lifts to manage door skins movement during assembly.
- Assemble door components carefully to create doors according to required patterns and pace.
- Participate in Tier 1 safety meetings and perform daily stretching exercises.
- Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of all layup work areas.
- Follow all established safety protocols, report concerns or incidents immediately to supervisors or first aid attendants.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times during shifts.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older to apply.
- No prior experience required; comprehensive training will be provided.
- Physical fitness sufficient to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Consistent attendance record.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment performing repetitive motions.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety with adherence to safety culture and protocols.
- Good communication abilities paired with a positive, cooperative attitude.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changes in work processes.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage of $22.00 plus an additional $1.00 per hour for night shift work.
- Eligibility for benefits package, including RRSP and Employee Stock Purchase Plan, after successful completion of a 90-day probation period.
Scheduling and Location
- Work schedule: Night shifts Monday through Thursday, 4:30 pm to 3:00 am.
- Occasional overtime on Fridays, limited to 5-8 hours as scheduled.
- Worksite at 41916 Yarrow Central Road, Chilliwack, BC. Note: No public transportation access; reliable personal transportation required.
