Job description
Role Overview
This position is for a Land Surveyor in Qatar’s Engineering / Surveying function. The role focuses on delivering precise land and construction surveying support across set-out, verification, strata, subdivision, demarcation, and as-built activities, while staying aligned with approved drawings, project specifications, and local regulatory standards.
Core Duties
- Carry out topographic, boundary, and construction surveys with a high level of accuracy.
- Set out buildings, infrastructure, and utility works on site.
- Establish, check, and preserve benchmarks, control points, and survey reference networks.
- Confirm levels, coordinates, and alignments before work begins and as construction progresses.
- Prepare strata layouts that define unit boundaries, shared spaces, and access areas.
- Work out unit areas and space allocations using approved drawings.
- Create strata drawings in CAD and PDF formats suitable for authority submission.
- Check as-built site conditions against the design documents prior to final handover.
- Develop subdivision layouts covering plots, roads, utilities, and access corridors.
- Verify site boundaries and coordinates during field visits.
- Support compliance with planning and infrastructure requirements from relevant Qatar authorities such as Qatari Diar and Ashghal.
- Prepare accurate survey data and drawing packages for approvals.
- Carry out on-site demarcation of land boundaries and plots.
- Install and confirm boundary markers, pegs, and control points.
- Ensure all work matches approved cadastral and subdivision information.
- Assist project handover by confirming the physical limits of plots.
- Make sure survey work meets required tolerances, drawing standards, and specifications.
- Perform as-built surveys and compile supporting documentation.
- Spot mismatches and escalate them to Project or Resident Engineers.
- Support QA/QC checks and inspection activities.
- Prepare and submit survey reports, field notes, calculations, as-built drawings, and strata/subdivision packages.
- Keep survey logs and records well organized.
- Use and look after total stations, GPS/GNSS units, and auto/digital levels.
- Maintain calibration, accuracy, and safe usage of all survey equipment.
- Coordinate with project engineers, site teams, and contractors as needed.
- Provide technical survey information and clarifications when required.
- Follow all HSE rules and site safety procedures during surveying work.
- Ensure surveying tasks are carried out safely at all times.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in construction or engineering consultancy.
- Prior GCC or Qatar experience is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Hands-on experience with survey software such as Leica, Trimble, or similar systems.
- Solid understanding of surveying principles and calculations.
- Familiarity with construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Good grasp of coordinate systems and datums.
